Local NCL chapter to hold annual blood drive

Share

The Glendale chapter of the National Charity League will hold its 10th annual “From the Heart” blood drive from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday at USC Verdugo Hills Hospital, 1812 Verdugo Road, Glendale.

Workers from the Red Cross, which is co-sponsoring the event, will be on-site to collect whole blood and double red-cell donations.

The event will also feature a raffle for donors, healthy snacks and dozens of homemade cookies, baked by the chapter’s Ticktockers, who are the daughters of the adult female members.

Last July, league members and local residents donated 107 units of blood. This year, members of the league’s blood drive committee — Hilary Fausett, Kara Sergile, Laura Buchanan, and Priscilla Musso — said they plan to surpass that amount and reach 120 units to celebrate the 10th year anniversary of the drive.

To make an appointment, contact Musso at fromtheheart@nclglendale.org or the Red Cross’ website redcrossblood.org with sponsor code: NCLGLENDALE. Walk-ins are welcome.

Donors should expect to spend between 60 and 90 minutes per appointment.
