Inactive grenade found in donation prompts evacuation at Glendale Goodwill

A grenade found in a bag of items donated to a Glendale Goodwill prompted a store evacuation Tuesday evening before it was determined to be inert, officials said.

At around 7 p.m., authorities were called to the store, located in the 1600 block of West Glenoaks Boulevard, where an employee found a grenade in a trash bag of donated items, said Glendale Police spokeswoman Tahnee Lightfoot.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s bomb squad reportedly determined that the grenade was real, but did not have explosive contents.

No injuries were reported. Police did not know who donated the bag.
