Jobless rates decline slightly in Burbank, Glendale

Unemployment rates in Burbank and Glendale decreased slightly last month with local, state and federal government jobs across Los Angeles County posting the biggest payroll gains, according to the latest labor report.

The jobless rate in Burbank declined by 0.2%, coming in at 4.8%, while it dropped to 5.7% in Glendale, a 0.3% drop, according to statistics released Friday by the California Employment Development Department.

Statewide, the unemployment rate was 5.8% last month, down from 5.9% in September, which is an improvement from 7.2% in October 2014.

The jobless rates in the La Crescenta-Montrose area and La Cañada Flintridge decreased by 0.1% in both communities, declining to 3.3% and 3.1 %, respectively.
