A Family Fun Day was held at the Shoseian Japanese Tea House and Friendship Garden in Brand Park this past Sunday.

The event included crafts, where participants made “grasshoppers” out of palm leaves.

Attendees also made colorful kites and got to fly them in the park.

The event ended with a demonstration of an art form called “Noh,” which is derived from the Sino-Japanese word for “skill” or “talent.” It is a form of classical Japanese musical drama that has been performed since the 14th century.

The Family Fun Day was sponsored by the Friends of Shoseian and the Japan Foundation, Los Angeles.
