Trio arrested in Glendale on suspicion of trafficking meth

About 10 pounds of methamphetamine were reportedly recovered from a car in Glendale during a routine traffic stop early Jan. 15, police say.

The stop occurred around 1:25 a.m. near Chevy Chase Drive and San Fernando Road, according to Tahnee Lightfoot, a spokeswoman for the Glendale Police Department.

The car allegedly drove straight through a right-turn-only lane, which necessitated the stop, she added.

When police spoke with the driver, 23-year-old Ivan Acosta from Fairfield, Calif., it was discovered his driver’s license was suspended.

Through questioning Acosta, along with two other people in the car, police eventually found out they had come from Wyoming to purchase drugs in bulk. A search of the car uncovered packages of meth that were wrapped in duct tape and hidden in the vehicle’s interior, according to Lightfoot.

Acosta and the passengers — 40-year-old Jose Ramirez and 26-year-old Tralia Evans of Wyoming — were arrested on suspicion of selling and transporting a controlled substance.

They are scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 6.
