Letter: City Council is addicted to development

Share

I have finally figured it out. The five members of the Glendale City Council are addicted to development. They just can’t help themselves.

The council can’t figure out what to do with the development fees that were collected from the construction of the 4,200 new apartments in downtown Glendale and then they go and approve a new 130-room boutique hotel.

I am up here trying to figure out how to save every drop of water and here we get 130 new toilets, showers and bathroom sinks not to mention the restaurant that will surely be on the ground floor of the this “3-star” establishment.

It is reassuring to know that every Hotel Indigo has a distinctive look, unlike the cookie-cutter architecture of our new downtown apartments. Also nice to know that the new hotel will have a price point higher than the Embassy Suits or the Hilton.

I don’t know of any rehab center for the City Council’s affliction. I think electing people that don’t have the best interest of developers as their priority would be a start.
