Letter: Denial of building paint job makes him laugh

Share

As I get older if find the strangest things make me laugh out loud.

My latest encounter was reading that Roger Kiesel, a case planner for the city, and Community Development Director Philip Lanzafame had decided against allowing Pacific BMW to paint the front of their facility on Brand Boulevard all white because it would make the building “monolithic.”

Perhaps Kiesel and Lanzafame should get out of their offices and take a drive up and down Central Avenue and Brand Boulevard and take a close look at what “monolithic” actually looks like.

I am referring of course to the plethora of square box multistory apartment buildings that have become the landmarks of Glendale’s downtown area.

It’s amazing that a revenue producing entity wants to do a paint job and it is denied, while a developer uses kindergarten architecture and it is approved.

What are they thinking?

Oops. There I go, laughing again.
