Letter: Freeway expansion is not a good idea

Share

Freeways are crowded but each time one is expanded, like the recent multiyear effort on the 405, the traffic doesn’t improve. Yet there was a recent letter to the editor calling for the Glendale (2) Freeway to be extended south all the way to the 90 Marina Expressway and the 710 extended to the 210.

Both efforts would be massive boondoggles eating up precious tax money, producing much pollution and benefiting only the multinational corporations who profit from massive construction projects.

The public would be so much better served by light rail and bus mass transit. We need to drop this last century thinking where the emphasis was on moving cars and concentrate on helping people move around more easily.
