Letter: Kazaz exhibition was a success

Share

Earlier this month, there was a successful art exhibition at the Consulate of the Republic of Armenia, in Glendale, presenting the works of the famous artist Emil Kazaz. The opening night was by invitation only and the rooms were crowded. You had to sneak in between people to try to see all his artworks. Each room had equal representation of his different mediums of works, and were arranged in such a way that drew one’s attention, even in the crowded rooms.

Kazaz’s works are mythological and beautiful, lively and vibrant. All the characters he portrays, whether they are humans or animals, have attitude. Kazaz uses his palette to represent both darkness and light.

If News-Press readers have the chance to attend another exhibition of his works, I recommend they study each piece to draw their own inspiration. This suggestion was made to me by the artist’s wife, Monet Airian Kazaz, when I revisited the exhibit on its final day at the consulate. The message is to subjectively to see it. He does not construct a message. As Kazaz says, “When the bee makes the honey, does it think about the message?”
