Letters to the Editor: Every penny spent on NASA/JPL scientific efforts worth it

Share

Pete Theisinger (“JPL engineer wins lifetime achievement award,” April 8) is the reason I don’t mind paying federal taxes! In these days of political uncertainty, if our politicians simply continue to fund our NASA/JPL/Caltech programs, every penny is worth it. People like Pete are the real people who “save the world.”

It has been a pleasure to live in our Crescenta/Cañada community for these past 40-plus years when many young engineers were hired at JPL. These folks, our neighbors and friends whose children and ours went to local schools together, were those who were working on our various space programs and looking forward to the future of America and planet Earth.

Our conversations were always lively and we thoroughly enjoyed hearing firsthand about the latest space developments the rest of us had only read about in science fiction!

Thank you, Pete, and the many other fine engineers and scientists who worked with you. You are truly appreciated.
