Letters to the Editor: City officials seem to be addicted to development

The Glendale News-Press recently ran a “Glendale’s Best” survey to determine the opinion of Glendale residents on a wide-ranging list of businesses.

Why not run a survey to find out how many Glendalians want more apartments built in the downtown area?

I don’t have a very large social circle but I have never talked to anyone who thinks that the 4,000-plus apartments being built in Glendale are a good thing.

The only people who seem to think all this construction is good are the members of the Glendale City Council, the members of the Glendale Planning Commission and the developers.

Now we are going to exchange the current Board of Education building for a building in “dire need of repair” and then grant any number of zoning variances so developer Carmel Partners can build a 286-unit apartment building on the Board of Education site at 223 N. Jackson St.

Is there no end to this madness?

I do believe the nation has an addiction problem in regards to prescription pain meds.

I also believe that the Glendale City Council and Glendale Planning Commission are addicted to development.
