BURBANK — With the CIF Southern Section individual and team tournaments looming, the four area boys’ golf teams in the Pacific League completed the team portion of the league schedule Tuesday at De Bell Golf Course.

Burroughs won its first league match of the season, as a group of area athletes is now focused on wrapping up a top-five spot in the league’s individual tournament and advancing to the postseason.

Burroughs received a four-over-par 75 from Garrit Green and a 76 from Louis D’Aquila to finish with a 391 and edge league champion Arcadia by a stroke.

“It feels good to win it and it we have some people who will play in the individual tournament,” said D’Aquila, who enters Wednesday’s round fourth overall at 459. “I feel confident with my game and we’re on our home course. We are improving as a team.

“I’m going to go in trying to make up a few strokes and see what happens.”

The individual tournament, which will consist of 16 players, will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at De Bell. The top five will compete in the CIF Individual Tournament on May 9 at Las Posas Country Club in Camarillo.

Burbank placed third with a 397, followed by Crescenta Valley at 404 and Pasadena with a 496. Arcadia, Burroughs, Crescenta Valley and Burbank will participate in the CIF Southern Section Northern Team Divisional at 8 a.m. May 12 at Soule Golf Club in Ojai.

“I executed a lot better today and I had a lot of confidence with my shot selection,” said Apinchapong, who is in fifth place at 463. “My putting worked well and I just have to go out there and play my game tomorrow.”

Burbank received a 79 from Jason Snow, an 85 from Cole Pendarvis and an 88 from Shane Lynch.

“I’m definitely going to have to rethink my game plan,” said Caletena, a reigning All-Area pick who is sixth at 465. “It’s going to be another day and feeling. I have some strokes to make up, but I’m within range.”

The field for the individual final will be Wu (443), followed by Peter Ju of Arcadia (449), Roa, D’Aquila, Apinchapong.
