Cameron Capili, Senior, Outside Hitter, Burroughs

It was a big season for the All-CIF Southern Section Division II and All-Pacific League first-team pick. Capili set the No. 2 school mark for kills in a season with 353 and added 239 digs and 47 aces for the Indians, who won a Pacific League title and a CIF SoCal Boys’ Volleyball Division II crown over Oak Park.

Andrew Dalmada, Senior, Outside Hitter, Burroughs

The accolades and accomplishments were plenty for the senior, who was an All-Pacific League and All-CIF Division II first-team choice. Dalmada smashed the school record for kills in a season by more than 150 with 492 and also had 42.5 blocks and 142 digs. The outside hitter also set the school single-match record for kills with 34 against Chatsworth.

Dante Fregoso, Senior, Outside Hitter, Flintridge Prep

A two-time All-Area Boys’ Volleyball Player of the Year, Fregoso was named the Prep League MVP, an All-CIF Division IV first-team pick and finished with 414 kills, 265 digs, 57 aces and 48 blocks. Fregoso helped the Rebels win a league title and advance to the semifinals of the Division IV playoffs. Was also named co-MVP of the fifth annual SGV All-Star Game.

Brandon Knight, Senior, Outside Hitter, Hoover

The Pacific League first-team selection was a driving force and finished with 438 kills (6.1 kills per game), the second-most kills in the area. Knight added 283 digs, 53 blocks and 39 aces and helped pace a historic season for the Tornadoes as Hoover qualified to the playoffs for the first time in 19 years.

Connor Walbrecht, Senior, Setter, La Cañada

The UC San Diego University-bound Walbrecht took the mantle of “team player” to another level and led his team in kills (221), while he was second in assists (236), digs (140), blocks (38) and aces (27). Was the Rio Hondo League MVP and guided the Spartans to a Rio Hondo League title, the second crown in the school’s history.

Sean Stephen, Junior, Outside Hitter, St. Francis

All-Mission League first-team pick was the lone non-senior on the All-Area first team and collected 340 kills and a .363 hitting percentage for the Golden Knights. Helped St. Francis battle until the last match of the season in pursuit of a playoff spot out of the tough Mission League.

COACH OF THE YEAR

Joel Brinton, Burroughs

Veteran coach led the Indians to a 31-6 record, a third straight undefeated league title and a seventh consecutive league crown. Burroughs advanced to the title match of the CIF Southern Section Division II playoffs and captured the Southern California Regional Division II Championship, the first-ever regional title in school history.
