In search of another knockout and the first defense of his California Xtreme Fighting bantamweight championship, Alfred Khashakyan will return to mixed martial arts action on Saturday night at CXF: Proving Grounds.

The Glendale High product will defend his 135-pound title against Anthony Perales at the Lights Out Promotions/Bash Boxing event at the Sportsmen’s Lodge in Studio City.

Khashakyan (6-2), who trains at the Glendale Fighting Club, has claimed all six of his career victories via knockout, including his first-round stoppage of Andrew Natividad for the vacant title at the Sportsmen’s Lodge on April 22.

In contrast, Peres (5-2) has won all five of his bouts via submission and is riding a three-fight winning streak, though he has not fought since June of 2013.

Elsewhere on the card, Curtis Millender (8-3), a Bellator veteran, will face Casey Greene (4-1) in what is likely to be a stand-up showdown for the CXF welterweight title, while the CXF lightweight championship is up for grabs between Dominick Clark (8-6) and Emilio Chavez (11-7).

Glendale’s Tigran Grigoryan (0-1) is scheduled to fight Eric Johnson (0-2), as well, while Southern California favorite Rob Gooch (3-3) and CXF middleweight titlist Moses Murrieta (3-0) are also slated to compete in separate bouts.

Tickets are available at www.valleyfightnight.com. Doors are set to open at 6:30 p.m. with first bout tenatively scheduled for 7 p.m. All bouts are subject to change.

Fans unable to attend Saturday’s event can watch it for $9.99 on FITE TV. For more information on the live stream, visit www.FITE.tv.
