All-Area Boys’ Volleyball First Team
Skyler Bercini, Senior, Libero, Burroughs
Defender was a force for the Pacific League champions. The all-league first-team selection tallied 22 aces and a team-high 285 digs, second most for a season in program history.
Anders Johnson, Senior, Middle Blocker, Crescenta Valley
Earned Pacific League co-Player of the Year while playing with a debilitating knee injury. Middle blocker tallied 262 kills and 94 blocks.
Cole Kaitz, Junior, Opposite, Burroughs
Powerful player was named to Pacific League first team after leading his team with 284 kills, while he was also tops in blocks with 51. Was named MVP of the sixth annual San Gabriel Valley All-Star Underclassmen Game.
AJ Nicassio, Sophomore, Outside Hitter, Flintridge Prep
Was a force for the Rebels and was named the Prep League Most Valuable Player. Tallied 269 kills, 285 digs, 41 aces and 25 blocks to help Rebels win league title and reach playoffs.
Sean Stephen, Senior, Outside Hitter, St. Francis
Versatile player tallied 264 kills and 17 aces to earn All-Mission League first-team honors for second straight season. Served as Golden Knights’ top offensive option.
Jonathan Tapan, Senior, Setter, Burbank
Excellent passer and defender, senior led the Bulldogs to the postseason and was a Pacific League first-team pick. Was named most valuable player of the sixth annual San Gabriel Valley All-Star Upperclassmen Game.
COACH OF THE YEAR
Joel Brinton, Burroughs
It was another strong season for the veteran coach, who saw his team make the jump from Division II to Division I. The Indians won an eighth straight Pacific League championship and advanced to the second round of the playoffs.
