All-Area Boys’ Basketball First Team

Jake Althouse, Senior, Forward, Flintridge Prep

A tower in middle for Rebels, senior earned All-CIF Southern Section Division IV-AA and All-Prep League first-team selections. Averaged 17.7 points and 8.1 rebounds per game.

Tristen Hull, Senior, Forward, Burroughs

An All-Pacific League first-team selection, versatile forward led his squad with 18.1 points and 7.9 rebounds per game. In addition, Hull averaged 2.4 assists and 2.3 steals a game to make the All-Area first team again.

Justin Kouyoumdjian, Senior, Guard, La Cañada

Part slasher, part shooter, Rio Hondo League co-Most Valuable Player averaged 18 points, four assists and two steals per game for league champion Spartans. Was also an All-CIF Southern Section Division I-A second-team choice.

Joey Walsh, Senior, Guard, St. Francis

Was one of area’s hardest-working players and earned an All-Mission League second-team choice as he averaged 17.8 points, 5.8 rebounds and two assists per contest for Golden Knights.

Michael Woods, Senior, Forward, Burbank

Two-time All-Area first-team pick was catalyst for his team’s historic run to first CIF Southern Section championship game in 91 years. Was an All-CIF Southern Section Division III-AA and Pacific League first-team choice and averaged 14.9 points, 9.4 rebounds and 3.1 blocks a game.

COACH OF THE YEAR

Jamayne Potts, Burbank

Despite finishing fourth in Pacific League, the Bulldogs advanced to the program’s first CIF Southern Section championship game since 1926. Burbank also qualified to the CIF Southern California Division IV Regional semifinals, which was the deepest run in program history. Squad finished with a 25-10 record and 6-2 postseason mark.
