All-Area Girls’ Soccer First Team

Ari Aghadjanians, Senior, La Cañada

Made unselfish move from playing up top to the backline and led Spartans’ charge to a Rio Hondo League championship for the first time since 2013-2014 season. Her exploits netted her Rio Hondo League Player of the Year honor.

Kira Bochard, Senior, Burbank

Turned in a final stellar season for the Bulldogs as she tallied 27 goals and 11 assists in just 16 matches to propel Burbank past a tumultous start of the season and into the playoffs. For her efforts, she was voted co-Pacific League Player of the Year.

Jillian Brady, Senior, Flintridge Prep

Led a tenacious defense which posted 17 shutouts and was voted Prep League co-Defensive Most Valuable Player for a Rebels squad that won a Prep League title and marched to the semifinal round of the CIF Southern Section Division III and CIF Southern California Division III Regional playoffs.

Mika Celeste, Sophomore, Flintridge Prep

Had a truly sensational breakout season as the All-Prep League first-team selection tallied 23 goals and 16 assists for the high-powered Rebels.

Mona Cesario, Junior, Flintridge Prep

Often overlooked despite her trademark headband, the All-Prep League first-team choice was a phenomenal playmaker who was often the starting point of the Rebels offense and totaled seven goals and nine assists.

Julia Gonzalez, Junior, Flintridge Prep

Followed up a season in which she was the All-Area Girls’ Soccer Player of the Year with another campaign in which she put up just phenomenal numbers to the tune of 31 goals and 22 assists. For her exploits, she was an All-Prep League and All-CIF Southern Section Division III first-round pick as she formed one of the area’s greatest one-two combos with current All-Area Girls’ Soccer Player of the Year Helen Schaefer.

Brianna McReynolds, Sophomore, Crescenta Valley

Super sophomore turned in a stellar season that was one of the greatest offensive campaigns in Falcons lore as the first-team All-Pacific League pick had an astounding 31 goals and 12 assists, both team-highs.

Remi Miller, Senior, Hoover

Though Tornadoes struggled, the talented All-Pacific League first-teamer might well have turned in her best season as she scored 12 goals and three assists while splitting time at forward and defender, where she was also excellent.

Maddy Riggs, Senior, Burroughs

In her final season, turned in another stellar campaign as she garnered first-team All-Pacific League honor after leading Indians with 14 goals to go along with eight assists.

Amethyst Trang, Junior, Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy

Ultra-talented All-Mission League first-team pick had five goals and three assists.

Lindsey Uteda, Junior, Flintridge Prep

Short in stature, but big in performance, the All-Prep League goaltender allowed 21 goals in 28 matches and finished with a 0.862 goals-against average for the Rebels during the team’s unforgettable postseason run.

COACH OF THE YEAR

Esteban Chavez, Flintridge Prep

Despite some unexpected departures along the backline before the season started and a roster that boasted just one senior, Chavez navigated the Rebels on their journey to one of the finest seasons in area girls’ soccer chronicle. Following a second straight Prep League title, this one an outright crown, the Rebels marched to the CIF Southern Section Division III semifinals, the program’s furthest ascent in 15 seasons and later made their CIF Southern California Division III Regional debut and made it to the semis there, as well. In all, Flintridge Prep posted a 23-5-3 record highlighted by an overwhelming offense that scored a school-record 113 goals and allowed just 25 against them with 17 shutouts, including a span of eight in a row that accompanied a winning streak of equal length.
