Sports Roundup: Flintridge Prep boys’ volleyball shuts down Chadwick

BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL

Flintridge Prep 3, Chadwick 0: Jonny Samuels finished with 16 kills and three blocks Thursday to lift the visiting Rebels to a 25-12, 25-12, 25-17 Prep League victory, the program’s 23rd in a row in league.

Flintridge Prep (16-2, 6-0 in league) got 10 kills, 14 digs and two aces from AJ Nicassio.

Burroughs 3, Glendale 0: Glendale fell at home Wednesday, 25-17, 25-10, 25-20, in a Pacific League match.

GIRLS’ SWIMMING

Crescenta Valley 128, Burroughs 35: Crescenta Valley rolled to a Pacific League home win Thursday.

The Falcons (5-1-1, 5-0 in league) got wins from Gabi Icheva in the 200-yard freestyle (1 minute, 56.27 seconds) and 500 freestyle (5:18.23), Kimmy Park in the 200 individual medley (2:19.05) and 100 backstroke (1:03.76), Alex Garas in the 50 freestyle (25.82), Erika Shirvanian in the 100 freestyle (58.51), Miya Higuchi in the 100 butterfly (1:02.03) and Teagan Higuchi in the 100 breaststroke (1:14.43). Garas, Higuchi, Icheva and Shirvanian teamed to capture the 400 freestyle relay in (3:52.90).

SOFTBALL

Flintridge Sacred Heart 11, Mayfield 1: The Tologs routed the host Cubs in a nonleague contest on Thursday to improve to 10-3.

BOYS’ GOLF

Crescenta Valley in Pacific League match: The Falcons carded a 410 to take second in a Pacific League match Thursday at Hanson Dam Golf Course in Pacoima. Crescenta Valley got a one-over-par 73 from Jacob Junio and 81s from Peter Kim and Trey Ballard.

Elis Alaan of Glendale finished with an 80.

BASEBALL

Flintridge Prep 4, Chadwick 0: Host Flintridge Prep picked up a Prep League home win Thursday at the Glendale Sports Complex.

Flintridge Prep (11-4-1, 5-2 in league) got three hits and two runs batted in from Kendall Kikkawa. Starting pitcher Bradley Noble went six innings, striking out five and yielding three hits for Flintridge Prep.

Pasadena 15, Hoover 1: The Tornadoes were defeated in Pacific League play at home on Thursday. Hoover dropped to 3-12, 0-8 in league.

St. Francis 7, Valley Christian 3: St. Francis wrapped up the St. Paul Tournament on Wednesday with a win.

The Golden Knights got a bases-loaded double in the first inning from Niko Khoury. They also received a two-run double in the sixth from Brandon Lewis.

BOYS’ TENNIS

Crescenta Valley 12, Burroughs 6: Visiting Crescenta Valley posted a Pacific League victory Thursday. The Falcons improved to 10-5, 9-1 in league.

Arcadia 18, Hoover 0: Host Hoover dropped a Pacific League match Thursday.

BOYS’ LACROSSE

Glendale 10, Sherman Oaks Notre Dame 7: Visiting Glendale (8-5) got two goals each from Albert Ruballos, Kevin Perez, Arjuna Ruiz and Kevin Flores in Wednesday’s nonleague match.

COLLEGE SOFTBALL

College of the Canyons 17, Glendale Community College 2 (five innings): The Vaqueros lost a Western State Conference East Division game Thursday at the Glendale Sports Complex. Glendale dropped to 10-19, 6-10 in the division.
