Sports Roundup: Flintridge Sacred Heart’s Campbell wins three Mission League titles

GIRLS’ SWIMMING

Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy in Mission League finals: The Tologs placed second with 517 points Tuesday at Rose Bowl Aquatics Center in Pasadena and won three league titles.

Flintridge Sacred Heart received first-place efforts from Christina Campbell in the 200-yard freestyle in 1 minute 52.23 seconds and the 500 freestyle (5:07.11). Campbell teamed with Emily Giesler, Fiona Mass and Emily Gray to capture the 200-yard medley relay (1:52.47).

Flintridge Sacred Heart got second-place efforts from Emily Giesler in the 100 breaststroke (1:07.34) and Campbell, Giesler, Mass and Emily Gray in the 200 freestyle relay (1:42.99).

Registering third-place efforts for the Tologs were Giesler in the 200 individual medley (2:15.42), Gray in the 50 freestyle (25.72), Amy Altman in the 100 breastroke (1:12.83) and Altman, Emily Smith, Margaux Blain and Sarah Peterson in the 400 freestyle relay (4:07.05).

BASEBALL

Glendale 8, Pasadena 3: Host Glendale picked up its first Pacific League win Tuesday.

The Nitros (2-16-1, 1-8 in league) got three hits from Nolan Wong and two hits from Bryce Wong. Glendale starting pitcher Daven Eidem went the distance, striking out two.

Alemany 7, St. Francis 0: St. Francis lost a Mission League home game Tuesday at the Glendale Sports Complex.

The Golden Knights (6-15, 3-7 in league) got one hit each from Jacob Bechtold, Brandon Lewis and John Spellman. St. Francis starting pitcher Evan Tontini went six innings, yielding three runs (two earned) on four hits and striking out six.

Pasadena Poly 10, Flintridge Prep 4: The visiting Rebels suffered a Prep League defeat Tuesday. Flintridge Prep dipped to 11-5-1, 5-3 in league.

Burbank 2, Hoover 1: The Tornadoes fell Tuesday at home in a Pacific League contest. Hoover is 3-13, 0-9 in league.

SOFTBALL

Rio Hondo Prep 10, Flintridge Prep 6: The Rebels fell Tuesday in a Prep League home game.

Libby Penn finished with four hits for Flintridge Prep (9-5, 4-4 in league).

Flintridge Prep recorded a 13-0 nonleague win against Lynwood on Saturday.

Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy 10, Fulton 4: The Tologs earned a win Saturday in the Lincoln Tournament.

GIRLS’ LACROSSE

Glendale 19, La Cañada 8: Xcaret Salvador finished with six goals and Rachel Fong added five on Tuesday to lift the visiting Nitros to a Pacific League win. The Nitros (11-7, 1-2 in league) got four goals from Aura Vivar.

Glendale notched an 18-3 nonleague win against Beverly Hills on Monday. The Nitros received four goals from Salvador and three from Angel Ancheta.

BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL

Burbank 3, Glendale 0: Glendale dropped a 25-17, 25-21, 25-15 Pacific League road loss Tuesday.

Arcadia 3, Hoover 0: Visiting Hoover fell, 25-13, 25-23, 25-9 Pacific League defeat Tuesday.

Gabrielino 3, Flintridge Prep 0: The Rebels suffered a 25-22, 25-22, 25-21 nonleague home loss Monday. AJ Nicassio had 12 kills and Jonny Samuels added 10 for Flintridge Prep (16-3).

BOYS’ GOLF

St. Francis 212, Sherman Oaks Notre Dame 216: Stian Lintvedt shot a three-over-par 38 on Tuesday to spark the Golden Knights in Mission League match at Lakeside Golf Club. St. Francis improved to 8-5, 3-3 in league.

On Monday, St. Francis fell to Harvard-Westlake, 189-197, at Brookside Golf Course No. 1. Lintvedt carded a two-under-par 34 and Aidan Tracey and Will Coontz had 39s.

BOYS’ TENNIS

Arcadia 18, Glendale 0: Glendale fell in a Pacific League match Tuesday.

Flintridge Prep 10, Chadwick 8: Flintridge Prep earned a Prep League road win Monday. The Rebels are 5-7, 3-2 in league.

COLLEGE SOFTBALL

Glendale Community College 6, 1, L.A. Valley College 2, 3: Glendale wrapped up its season Tuesday by splitting a Western State Conference East Division road doubleheader. The Vaqueros went 11-21, 7-11 in the division.

BOYS’ TRACK AND FIELD

Flintridge Prep at Prep League prelims: Fifteen Rebels earned qualification to the Prep League finals out of Saturday’s event at South Pasadena and Burroughs highs.

Senior Warren Hosseinion won the shot put with a toss of 50 feet, while junior Evan Pattinelli captured the 1,600 in 4:48.61. Senior Riley Coan was also second in the 800 (2:09.43) and third in the 1,600 (4:48.66).

St. Francis at San Gabriel Valley Championships: Golden Knights junior Blake Howard turned in a fine effort at San Dimas High on Saturday.

Howard finished second in the shot put with a toss of 48 feet, 2 inches, which trailed only Northview’s Kevin Thomas (49-5).

Howard also placed seventh in the discus throw with a toss of 121-5.

GIRLS’ TRACK AND FIELD

Flintridge Prep at Prep League prelims: The Rebels qualified 16 competitors out of Saturday’s preliminary event, which took place at both South Pasadena and Burroughs highs.

Perhaps senior Hanna Barakat turned in the best effort with a pair of winning efforts in the 200-meter dash (25.99 seconds) and 400 (59.25), while she took second in the 100 (13.07).

Natalie O’Brien claimed the 800 (2:24.41), Sophie Gitlin took home the 1,600 (5:17.24) and Marissa David captured the long jump (16 feet, 3 inches).

The finals are on Friday at Burroughs at 5 p.m.

MEN’S GOLF

Glendale Community College in Western State Conference match: Glendale took fifth in the eight-team event Monday at Antelope Valley College with a 406. The Vaqueros received a three-over-par 75 from Jake Schultz, a 76 from John Lentz, 82s from Brandon Cho and Zack Silverman and a 91 from Jeremy Parker.

The Vaqueros are in fifth place in conference with the 36-hole conference final set for Monday at Cypress Ridge Golf Course in Arroyo Grande. The top four teams qualify for the Southern California Regionals.

COLLEGE BASEBALL

Glendale Community College 15, Antelope Valley College 4: Visiting Glendale posted a Western State Conference East Division win Saturday. The Vaqueros got four hits and six runs batted in from Frank Garriola, two hits and three runs batted in from Bruno Teramoto and three hits from Grant Mona.
