GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL

Glendale Adventist Academy 3, Carpinteria 0: Top-seeded Glendale Adventist received 14 kills and nine digs from Elyse Knipschild and 12 kills and 11 digs from Paige Singleton on Thursday to register a 25-20, 25-22, 27-25 CIF Southern Section Division IX second-round road victory.

The Cougars (19-5) got 34 assists and seven digs from Liana Salvador.

Glendale Adventist will take on visiting L.A. Sacred Heart of Jesus in a quarterfinal home match at a time to be determined Saturday.

BOYS’ WATER POLO

Agoura 18, Hoover 7: Hoover saw its season wrap up Thursday in a CIF Southern Section Division II first-round match played at Oaks Christian High. The Tornadoes (13-8) received two goals apiece from Jordan Corpuz and Armando Honarchian and nine saves from goalkeeper Henry Pruett.

“[We had a] slow start,” Hoover coach Kevin Witt said. “Agoura is fast and counter-attacks well.”

Alta Loma 7, Flintridge Prep 5: Flintridge Prep (15-10) fell Thursday in a CIF Southern Section Division V second-round match.

The Rebels, who won four straight Prep League championships, got two goals from Aiden Schraeder.

GIRLS’ GOLF

Alaan in CIF Southern Section Individual Final: Glendale High senior Elis Alaan carded a 17-over-par 89 to finish tied for 58th on Thursday at River Ridge Golf Course in Oxnard. The cut was 77.
