Sports Roundup: Gonzalez, Flintridge Prep girls’ soccer charge past Pasadena

GIRLS’ SOCCER

Flintridge Prep 8, Pasadena 2: Julia Gonzalez and Makenna Dominguez had two goals and two assists each to lift the visiting Rebels (3-4-1) to a nonleague win Friday. Gonzalez has amazingly scored in every game this season so far.

Flintridge Prep also received goals from Mikaela Celeste, Sophia Corbisiero, Molly Scott and Jenna Mijares.

BOYS’ SOCCER

West Ranch 3, Crescenta Valley 1: Crescenta Valley fell Thursday in a nonleague match. Ryan Sanfilippo scored for the Falcons.

Flintridge Prep 7, McAuliffe 1: The host Rebels (5-3-2) rolled to a nonleague victory Wednesday.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Flintridge Prep 56, Temple City 39: Fueled by a huge first quarter in which they outscored the Rams, 22-7, the Rebels won their second nonleague game in as many days on Thursday on the road.

Kaitlyn Chen turned in a game-high 23 points to lead Prep (6-4), with Andie Kim chipping in 14.

Flintridge Prep 62, Sierra 45: Flintridge Prep (5-4) got 17 points from Sofia Gonzalez and 15 from Kaitlyn Chen to record a nonleague home win Wednesday. Andie Kim and Alex Kyriakakis contributed 11 and 10 points, respectively, for the Rebels.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Crescenta Valley 91, Milken Community 71: Arman Pezeshkian finished with 25 points and Tyler Carlson collected 21 Wednesday to lift the Falcons (6-3) in the third-place game of the San Fernando Valley Tournament. Austin Novak recorded 18 points and 10 rebounds and Christopher Arzoumanian had 18 points for Crescenta Valley, which got 14 rebounds from Garen Kejijian.

Crescenta Valley suffered a 74-59 defeat to Granada Hills Charter on Tuesday in a tournament semifinal contest.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Riverside City College 59, Glendale Community College 48: Host Glendale fell Thursday in a nonconference contest. The Vaqueros got 20 points and three assists from Cheyenne Jankulovski and 14 points and seven rebounds from Sylvia Vartazarian.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

Antelope Valley College 70, Glendale Community College 62: The Vaqueros (5-9) dropped the third-place contest of the Compton Tournament on Wednesday. The Vaqueros got 23 points from Serigne Athj and 16 from Chris Daniels.

Glendale fell, 80-75, on Tuesday in a tournament semifinal matchup. The Vaqueros received 27 points, eight rebounds and three assists from Daniels and 21 points points from Dominic Gully.
