Sports Roundup: Crescenta Valley girls’ basketball cruises to holiday victory

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Crescenta Valley 66, Marquez 11: Over two weeks of rest didn’t equal rust for the Falcons, who rolled in Tuesday evening’s West Coast Holiday Classic game at home.

Caity Bouchard paced Crescenta Valley (7-2), which hadn’t played since Dec. 9, with 20 points. Sarah Perez added 16 points, while Georgina Kregorian chipped in 14 points for the Falcons.

Crescenta Valley will host Fairfax at 6 p.m. in the second round on Wednesday.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

St. Francis 74, Montebello 38: The Golden Knights rolled to victory in Tuesday afternoon’s opener of the San Gabriel Valley Classic at Nogales High.

Davon Flowers led the way for St. Francis (6-3), which has won two straight.

The Golden Knights face Don Lugo on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m.

St. Paul 69, Hoover 58: Despite four players scoring in double figures, the Tornadoes fell in the San Gabriel Valley Classic at Monrovia on Tuesday.

Davit Pirijanian led Hoover (3-6) with 16 points, while Garo Darmandzhyan added 15 points, Angel Mino chipped in 12 points and Caleb Davis contributed 10 points.

Hoover is back in action Wednesday against Central City at 1 p.m. at Monrovia.

GIRLS’ SOCCER

Flintridge Prep at La Salle Christmas Classic: Flintridge Prep commenced with a 3-1 victory over Chaminade behind a hat trick from Julia Gonzalez, who picked up assists from Mikaela Celeste, Makenna Dominguez and Mona Cesario, on Tuesday. Libby Penn added four saves for the Tologs, who have rebounded back to .500 (4-4-1).

On Wednesday, Flintridge Prep will face St. Lucy’s at 1:30 p.m. followed by Cantwell Sacred Heart at 4:30.

Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy at La Salle Christmas Classic: Flintridge Sacred Heart (3-1-2) rallied from a 4-1 deficit with 25 minutes left to force a 4-4 tie with host La Salle on Tuesday afternoon.

Hillary Howard and Fiona Stayton each accounted for two goals and one assist. Marissa Venneri and Lauren Bolte added assists for Flintridge Sacred Heart.

The Tologs will be back in action Wednesday at 9 a.m. against Temple City and then at 3 p.m. versus St. Genevieve.
