Sports Roundup: Flintridge Prep girls’ soccer heads to tournament final

GIRLS’ SOCCER

Flintridge Prep 4, Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy 1: Makenna Dominguez had three goals and one assist Thursday to lift the Rebels (6-4-3) in a semifinal match of the La Salle Tournament. Mikela Celests had one goal and two assists for Flintridge Prep, which will compete in the championship match versus St. Lucy’s at 10:30 a.m. Friday.

Flintridge Sacred Heart dipped to 4-2-3.

BOYS’ SOCCER

St. Francis 2, Mater Dei 0: Ian Odermatt and Sebastian Ruiz scored goals Thursday to lift the Golden Knights (5-3-1) in an Oceanside Tournament match.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

St. Francis 66, Nogales 50: The Golden Knights won their group on Thursday evening in the third day of San Gabriel Valley Christmas Invitational at Nogales High.

With the victory, St. Francis (8-3) advanced to the face Yucaipa on Friday at 7 p.m. for the pool play championship. A win would advance St. Francis to the tournament championship on Saturday.

Cabrillo 51, Crescenta Valley 48: The Falcons dropped a pool-play contest Thursday in the Palm Springs Tournament. The Falcons (7-4) received 19 points and 12 rebounds from Austin Novak and 12 points from Christopher Arzoumanian.

Summit 63, Hoover 45: The Tornadoes (4-7) lost a pool-play game in the Monrovia Tournament on Thursday. Hoover got 18 points from Derrick Eliasi.

Olympia 60, Flintridge Prep 49: The Rebels fell in pool play action of the Santa Barbara Tournament on Thursday evening.

Jonathan Le scored 11 points for Flintridge Prep (3-7), while Jack Cartwright and Majeed Ismail added nine points each.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Flintridge Prep 43, Arleta 18: The Rebels (7-5) picked up a victory in the La Cañada New Year’s Ball Varsity Tournament on Thursday afternoon.

Flintridge Sacred Heart 61, Ramona Convent 38: The Tologs picked up a nonleague victory Thursday afternoon in their final game of 2017.

Flintridge Sacred Heart improved to 2-9.

West Ranch 54, Hoover 19: Minella Aghajani finished with 12 points for Hoover (1-7) on Thursday in a West Coast Classic contest at Burroughs High.
