Crescenta Valley 60, Santa Ana Foohill 58: Crescenta Valley started the CIF Southern Section Division II-A playoffs Wednesday with a thrilling road victory.

Crescenta Valley (16-11) got a team-high 28 points from Arman Pezeshkian, including the winning basket with 2.8 seconds remaining in the game.

Christopher Arzoumanian had 11 points for the Falcons, who also received eight points and 13 rebounds from Austin Novak and seven points from Tyler Carlson.

Crescenta Valley will take part in a second-round home game Friday versus Riverside Poly.

“Our team showed a lot of grit and resilience,” Crescenta Valley coach Shawn Zargarian said.

Culver City 83, Glendale 69: An exciting and productive season for the Nitros came to a close in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division III-A playoffs on the road Wednesday night.

Glendale, which made its first postseason appearance since 2015, ended its season at 18-10.

No. 2 seed Culver City (16-7, Ocean League champion) ran out to a 10-2 lead, but the Nitros clawed back to trail 41-36 at halftime.

“I’m very proud of my team,” Nitros coach Ib Belou said. “We left everything on the floor. We as a program are headed in the right direction because of our seniors.”

MEN’S BASKETBALL

L.A. Valley College 64, Glendale Community College 61: Glendale suffered a Western State Conference East Division road loss Wednesday. The Vaqueros dropped to 11-15, 4-5 in the division.
