Sports Roundup: Flintridge Prep baseball opens season with blowout

BASEBALL

Flintridge Prep 11, Rosemead 1: The Rebels scored sixth in the top of the seventh to put an exclamation point on a victory on opening day.

The Rebels pounded out 14 hits for the nonleague win on the road.

West Ranch 10, St. Francis 5: The Golden Knights opened their season Saturday in the Easton Tournament with a defeat despite Christian Muro tallying three hits and two runs.Matthew Odom added a pair of hits, including a double, two walks, two runs and one run batted in, Tyler Quintero also had two hits with a double and two RBI and Mikey Kane had two hits, including a double.

Arleta 10, Glendale 3: The Nitros opened their season with a nonleague home defeat on Saturday morning.Joel Leon finished with two hits, two runs batted in and one run, while Daven Eidem tallied a hit, one run and two stolen bases and Darian Jenks added a hit, run and stolen base.

SOFTBALL

Crescenta Valley in Lincoln Tournament: The Falcons opened their season Saturday afternoon with a 16-0 win over Victor Valley ahead of a 7-1 win against Roosevelt.

Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy at San Marino Tournament: The Tologs began their season Saturday morning with a 16-3 win over South Pasadena and capped the day with a 9-7 win over La Salle.

Cate Ziegler had three hits, three runs and two RBI against South Pas, while Sarah Peck had three hits and two runs, Karrie Nishiyama had two hits, two runs and an RBI, Alli Lombardo had two hits, four RBI and a run, Courtney Rasic had two hits, two runs and an RBI and Amanda Ramirez had three runs and two RBI.

Against La Salle, Ziegler had four hits, three RBI and two runs, while Rasic had four hits and an RBI and Peck had two hits, two runs and two RBI.

COLLEGE BASEBALL

Golden West College 6, Glendale Community College 4: The Vaqueros lost on the road Saturday to fall to 9-8.

Thad Wilson had four hits and a run while Troy Viola and Lucas Sakay had solo home runs. Grant Mona added a pair of hits and a run.
