Sports Roundup: Glendale college tennis teams prevail
WOMEN’S TENNIS
Glendale Community College 9, Antelope Valley College 0: Visiting Glendale rolled to a Western State Conference win Thursday.
The Vaqueros (13-2, 9-0 in conference) got singles wins from Miah Webb (6-2, 6-0), Srna Lepchevska (6-2, 6-2), Hailey McNall (6-0, 6-0), Sabrina Subero (6-0, 6-0), Ruth Kachatorian (6-0, 6-0) and Felicia Moradian (6-1, 6-0).
Glendale received doubles victories from Lepchevska and McNall (8-1), Webb and Subero (8-1) and Moradian and Kachatorian (8-1).
MEN’S TENNIS
Glendale Community College 5, Santa Barbara City College 4: Glendale picked up a Western State Conference home win Thursday.
Glendale (3-9, 2-5 in conference) got wins in singles from Kevin Orellana (6-4, 2-6, 6-3), Daniel Garcia (6-1, 7-5), Sam Azaryan (6-1, 6-0) and Eric Minassian (6-0, 6-0).
Glendale picked up a doubles victory from Garcia and Natsuki Abe (8-3).
BOYS’ TENNIS
Crescenta Valley 14, Burroughs 4: The Falcons rolled to a Pacific League road win Thursday. Crescenta Valley (8-1, 6-0 in league) won all nine sets in doubles.
Arcadia 18, Hoover 0: Hoover dropped a Pacific League home match Thursday.
BOYS’ GOLF
St. Francis 203, Village Christian 207: St. Francis (3-2) notched a nonleague win Thursday at De Bell Golf Course in Burbank. St. Francis received a two-over-par 36 from Henry Fitzhugh and 39s from Jacob Smissen and Vincent Bedros.
Temple City 202, Flintridge Prep 218: Flintridge Prep (7-1) fell for the first time Thursday in a nonleague match at Eaton Canyon Golf Course in Pasadena. Ben Sacks carded an even-par 35 for Flintridge Prep.
Crescenta Valley in Pacific League match: The Falcons took third with a 437 on Thursday at Santa Anita Golf Course in Arcadia. Crescenta Valley got a 12-over-par 83 from Nathaniel Frink.
SOFTBALL
Pasadena Poly 13, Flintridge Prep 3: Visiting Flintridge Prep dropped a Prep League contest Thursday. The Rebels (0-3, 0-2 in league) got got two runs batted in from Carina Mankerian.
GIRLS’ SWIMMING
Crescenta Valley 108, San Marino 62: Crescenta Valley (2-1) registered a nonleague road win Thursday.
The Falcons got two wins apiece from Gabi Icheva in the 50-yard freestyle (25.78) and 100 freestyle (55.43) and Kimmy Park in the 200 freestyle (2:00.82) and 100 backstroke (1:03.32).
GIRLS’ LACROSSE
West Ranch 9, Crescenta Valley 8: Crescenta Valley (2-3) dropped a nonleague home match Thursday. The Falcons got three goals from Allie Foster and three assists from Peyton Marshall.
