Sports Roundup: Crescenta Valley girls’ soccer flies past Burroughs

GIRLS’ SOCCER

Crescenta Valley 4, Burroughs 1: The Falcons wrapped up second place in the Pacific League with Tuesday afternoon’s win on the road, which was keyed by Brianna McReynolds scoring two goals and passing for an assist.

Crescenta Valley (16-3-1, 11-1-1 in league) also got a goal and an assist from Natalie Misetich and Nikki Collins scored off an Alaina Furstenberg assist.

Flintridge Prep 9, Firebaugh 0: Flintridge Prep picked up a Prep League road win Monday to finish the regular season at 19-3-3, 8-1-1 in league.

Alemany 2, Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy 1: The Tologs dropped a home Mission League match Monday at Occidental College. Flintridge Sacred Heart dipped to 9-5-1, 3-4 in league.

Pasadena 4, Glendale 1: The Nitros took a somewhat stunning defeat on the road Tuesday and their record dropped to 6-10-1, 4-8-1 in the Pacific League.

Arcadia 10, Hoover 0: The Tornadoes lost a physical encounter on Tuesday, falling to 6-10, 4-9 in the Pacific League. Arcadia clinched the league title outright with the victory.

GIRLS’ WATER POLO

Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy 5, Louisville 4: The Tologs (11-9, 4-3 in Mission League) picked up a victory in a Mission League Tournament match Tuesday.

FSHA will now play Harvard-Westlake in the tournament semifinals finals.

BOYS’ SOCCER

Hoover 2, Arcadia 1: The Tornadoes rallied with two second-half goals to overcome a one-goal halftime deficit.

Hoover improved to 14-6-4, 7-4-3 in the Pacific League, putting them in fifth place with 21 points, just a point behind Muir and Pasadena, who are tied for third with 22 points.

Pasadena 1, Glendale 0: The Nitros dropped to 5-10-4, 2-9-2 in the Pacific League with Tuesday’s defeat.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Crescenta Valley 64, Burroughs 56: Journey Shank had 26 points for the Falcons in Tuesday’s Pacific League victory at home.

Crescenta Valley improved to 17-8, 9-4 in league.

Pasadena 59, Glendale 53: The Nitros came up short of upsetting the Pacific League champs with Tuesday’s loss at home to fall to 11-15, 3-10 in league.

Arcadia 73, Hoover 67: Hoover fell Tuesday in Pacific League road game. The Tornadoes fell to 7-18, 1-12 in league.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Glendale 61, Pasadena 48: The Nitros once again proved they could beat anyone in league as they knocked off first-place Pasadena on the road to improve to 15-11, 6-5 in the Pacific League.

St. Monica Academy 54, International School of L.A. 32: The visiting Crusaders rolled to an International League road victory Tuesday. St. Monica improved to 14-9, 10-0 in league.

Arcadia 77, Hoover 27: Mary Cantos finished with 17 points on Tuesday for the host Tornadoes in Pacific League contest. Hoover dropped to 1-21, 0-11 in league.

MEN’S BASEBALL

Glendale Community College 5, L.A. Valley College 0: John Vergara spun six innings of scoreless ball, allowing just four hits and one walk while striking out eight in Tuesday afternoon’s nonconference win on the road.

Vergara was backed by the spotless relief of Max DeAmicis (one inning, one walk, no hits) and James Giambalvo (two innings, one hit, one strikeout).

John Malott had two hits, two runs batted in and a run and NJ Omoruyi had a pair of hits, one run and one RBI. Konner Piotto had a hit, run and RBI off the bench for GCC (4-1).

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Glendale Community College 64, Victor Valley College 35: The host Vaqueros cruised to a Western State Conference East Division win Saturday.

Glendale (16-8, 4-2 in the division) received 20 points and four steals from Katia Dabbaghian, 13 points and three steals from Angela Basco and 12 points from Sarah Troy.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

Glendale Community College 78, Victor Valley College 58: Host Glendale picked up a Western State Conference East Division victory Saturday. The Vaqueros (12-11, 2-4 in the division) got a game-high 24 points from Serigne Athj, 15 from Jack Karapetyan and 14 from Denzel Nwanguma.
