Sports Roundup: Flintridge Sacred Heart volleyball continues to roll

GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL

Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy 3, Claremont 2: Kayla Lund registered 27 kills, 31 assists and 17 digs Thursday to lift visiting Flintridge Sacred Heart to a 32-30, 25-22, 19-25, 26-28, 15-10 nonleague win.

The Tologs (5-0) got 20 kills, 37 assists and 10 digs from Ellis Dejardin, 30 digs and four aces from Maddie Pernecky and 12 digs from Tori Conlon.

Flintridge Prep 3, Firebaugh 0: Host Flintridge Prep posted a 25-11, 25-12, 25-16 Prep League win Thursday.

The Rebels (2-1, 1-1 in league) received 10 kills and four aces from Ellen Chang, 28 assists from Jade Whaley and six kills and three blocks from Courtney Johnson.

On Wednesday, Flintridge Prep began league with a 25-10, 25-19, 25-19 home loss against Westridge.

Burbank 3, Hoover 0: The visiting Tornadoes suffered a 25-14, 25-10, 25-18 Pacific League defeat Thursday.

GIRLS’ TENNIS

Crescenta Valley 10, South Pasadena 8: The visiting Falcons (1-3) prevailed Thursday in a nonleague match.

Crescenta Valley suffered a 17-1 nonleague defeat against West Ranch on the road Wednesday.

Louisville 16, Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy 2: The Tologs dropped a Mission League home match Thursday at Scholl Canyon Tennis Center.

Alhambra 10, Flintridge Prep 8: Visiting Flintridge Prep (0-2) suffered a nonleague defeat Wednesday.

BOYS’ WATER POLO

Los Altos 8, Glendale 7: Glendale (2-1) fell Thursday in a nonleague road match.

Sherman Oaks Notre Dame 15, Flintridge Prep 11: Flintridge Prep began its season Wednesday with a nonleague road loss. The Rebels received three goals and three assists from Kasen Barraclough.

GIRLS’ GOLF

Sherman Oaks Notre 220, Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy 271: Flintridge Sacred Heart dropped a Mission League match Thursday at Brookside Golf Course.

The Tologs lost to Marlborough, 225-273, in a league match Wednesday at Wilshire Country Club. Denver Mackey carded a 13-over-par 48 for the Tologs.

Crescenta Valley in Pacific League match: The Falcons finished fourth in the six-team event Wednesday at Hansen Dam Golf Course with a 234. Crescenta Valley received a five-over-par 41 from Emily Redecker and a 42 from Gloria Namkung.

GIRLS’ CROSS-COUNTRY

Crescenta Valley in four-team meet: Junior Naila Ortiz led the Falcons in the meet against Santee, Canyon Country Canyon and Golden Valley at Crescenta Valley Park on Thursday.

Ortiz finished fourth in 20 minutes 22.28 seconds, while Melissa Owens also finished in the top 10 by placing eighth (21:24.12).

Crescenta Valley finished second with 51 points, behind Canyon (44), but ahead of Golden Valley (54) and Santee (73).

BOYS’ CROSS-COUNTRY

Crescenta Valley, St. Francis in four-team meet: It was time for runners to step up Thursday at Crescenta Valley Park versus Santee, Canyon Country Canyon and Golden Valley.

Crescenta Valley Coach Mark Evans sat his top eight runners and his Falcons finished third with 52 points, thanks to three top-10 finishes.

Senior Matt Brunner finished sixth in a time of 17 minutes 14.75 seconds, while teammates Carter Walch (eighth, 17:29.53) and Ethan Sharp (10th, 17:39.84) were close behind.

St. Francis finished fifth with 142 points, behind Canyon (28), Golden Valley (44), Crescenta Valley and Santee (117).

Freshman Stuart Serventi led the Golden Knights, placing 26th in 18:48.59.

MEN’S SOCCER

Glendale Community College 1, L.A. Harbor College 0: Jesus Rosas scored a first-half goal to lift host Glendale (2-2) in a nonconference match on Wednesday.
