Sports Roundup: Glendale Community College opens season with win over Mt. SAC

MEN’S TENNIS

Glendale Community College 8, Mount San Antonio College 1: The Vaqueros began their season Tuesday with a nonconference home victory.

Glendale received singles wins from Christian Hess (6-3, 6-1), Chris Pope (6-0, 6-0), Arin Meserkhani (6-2, 6-4) and Kevin Orellana (6-1, 6-1). It also got two wins via forfeit. In doubles, the Vaqueros got an 8-6 win from John Robertson and Steven Sandoval and posted a win via forfeit.

WOMEN’S TENNIS

Irvine Valley College 5, Glendale Community College 4: Glendale (1-1) fell Tuesday in a nonconference match.

The Vaqueros got wins in singles from Tsukimi Ono (6-2, 6-4) and Alexa Mendez (6-2, 7-5). They received doubles victories from Ono and Veronika Galstyan (9-7) and Hailey McNall and Kanako Kihara (8-6).

COLLEGE BASEBALL

Glendale Community College 6, Mount San Antonio College 3: Glendale (2-0) registered a nonconference road victory Tuesday.

Jacob Gribbin hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning to give the Vaqueros a 4-0 lead. Mondo Rodriguez had a two-run single earlier in the inning.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Flintridge Prep 60, Chadwick 48: Flintridge Prep notched a Prep League home win Tuesday, avenging a previous loss to the Dolphins. The Rebels are 10-8, 5-2 in league.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Alemany 91, Flintridge Sacred Heart 51: The Tologs suffered a Mission League road defeat Tuesday afternoon.

Camilla Homans led Flintridge Sacred Heart (7-17, 0-6) with 13 points and Ryan Dubb added 12 points.
