Sports Roundup: Glendale Community College women’s basketball nabs division victory

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Glendale Community College 63, Barstow College 52: Katia Dabbaghian finished with 16 points and Luna Panosian added 15 on Wednesday to spark host Glendale to a Western State Conference East Division win.

Glendale (14-6, 2-0 in the division) also got nine points, seven steals and five assists from Paulina Glavino.

GIRLS’ SOCCER

Flintridge Prep 5, Mayfield 0: Following its first Prep League loss to Pasadena Poly on Saturday, the Rebels rebounded in a big way with Wednesday’s Prep League victory on the road.

Helen Schaeffer had a pair of goals and an assist for the Rebels (15-3-3, 4-1-1 in league), while Julia Gonzalez also had two goals and Caitlin Fong had two assists. Mikaela Celeste added a goal and Jenna Mijares had an assist.

BOYS’ SOCCER

Alemany 1, St. Francis 0: The Golden Knights’ offensive troubles continued with Wednesday evening’s Mission League loss on the road.

St. Francis (6-4-4, 1-2-2) has been shut out in four straight games and is riding a scoreless streak of 331 minutes in a row. Overall, the Golden Knights have been shut out six times.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Flintridge Prep 69, McAuliffe 49: Jake Althouse finished with 24 points and Kendall Kikkawa collected 19 points, six assists and five rebounds Wednesday to pace the host Rebels (5-7) in a nonleague game.

St. Monica Academy 63, Le Lycee 61: The Crusaders pulled out an International League home victory Wednesday at New Revelation Baptist Church in Pasadena. St. Monica improved to 7-9, 6-3 in league.

Alemany 62, St. Francis 49: St. Francis fell Wednesday in a Mission League road contest. The Golden Knights are 11-7, 1-4 in league.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy 49, Brentwood 32: On the strength of winning the second quarter, 18-0, the Tologs pulled away to a nonleague victory at home on Wednesday evening to improve to 7-13.
