Sports Roundup: Holy Family volleyball sweeps league opener

GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL

Holy Family 3, San Gabriel Mission 0: Host Holy Family began Horizon League action Tuesday with a 25-16, 25-14, 25-18 win at Maple Park.

The Gaels (5-6) received 20 digs and six kills from Meghann Velasquez, four aces and five blocks from Jasmine Moreno and 12 assists and four aces from Melanie Ibarra.

Marymount 3, Flintridge Sacred Heart 2: The Tologs lost a thriller on the road in their Mission League opener, 25-23, 20-25, 26-28, 25-19, 15-7 on Tuesday evening.

With the defeat, Flintridge Sacred Heart dropped to 10-3 and 0-1.

Kayla Lund led the Tologs with 25 kills, 21 digs and four aces. Ellis DeJardin added 15 kills, 27 assists and eight digs, while Maddie Pernecky added 28 digs.

Crescenta Valley 3, Pasadena 0: The Falcons stayed undefeated in the Pacific League with Tuesday’s 25-23, 25-13, 25-18 win.
Crescenta Valley improved to 7-6, 4-0 in league.

Flintridge Prep 3, Rio Hondo Prep 1: The Rebels earned a Prep League victory on Tuesday with a 25-15, 25-10, 24-26, 27-15 triumph. Ani Bernard finished with 40 assists for the Rebels (5-4-1, 2-1).

Flintridge Prep also received 16 kills from Jada Gritton and 12 from Ellen Chang.

St. Monica Academy 3, New Harvest Christian 0: St. Monica picked up a 25-8, 25-18, 25-15 International League home win Friday at New Revelation Baptist Church in Pasadena. The Crusaders improved to 5-5, 3-0 in league.

GIRLS’ TENNIS

Crescenta Valley 17, Glendale 1: Crescenta Valley picked up a Pacific League home win Tuesday.

The Falcons improved to 3-4, 2-2 in league.

Sherman Oaks Notre Dame 18, Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy 0: The visiting Tologs fell Tuesday in a Mission League match at Braemar Country Club.
