BOYS’ WATER POLO

St. Francis 12 La Salle 10 (OT): Five days removed from winning the program’s first victory, the Golden Knights were at it again.

St. Francis tied the score at 10 with 15 seconds left in regulation. Both teams didn’t score in the first half of overtime, while St. Francis scored twice in the second half to improve to 2-1.

GIRLS’ TENNIS

Crescenta Valley 17, Hoover 1: Visiting Crescenta Valley posted a Pacific League win Tuesday to improve to 2-3, 1-1 in league.

Burbank 16, Glendale 2: The Nitros suffered a Pacific League road defeat Tuesday.

GIRLS’ CROSS-COUNTRY

Flintridge Prep, Flintridge Sacred Heart at Rosemead Invitational: There were quite a few standout performances from the Rebels and Tologs on Friday evening.

Rebel Natalie O’Brien won the senior race in a mark of 17 minutes, 32.45 seconds, while teammate Maia Cohen was third in 18:16.22, Marissa Langley was ninth (19:13.23), Willow Scott earned 16th (19:36.19) and Lilly Maxfield placed 20th (20:02.62).

Overall, Flintridge Prep won the senior race with 32 points.

In the junior race, Sophie Gitlin also was victorious for the Rebels and finished in a time of 17:12.34. Fellow Rebels Gabriela Bennett (16th, 19:35.85) and Molly Schwartz (19th, 19:40.03) finished in the top 20 for the Rebels, who placed second with 99 points to Immaculate Heart (89).

The Tologs took fourth in the senior race with 107 points, with Sarah Peterson leading the way by taking 23rd in 20:26.59.

In the junior race, Tolog Bobbie Byrne turned in a strong effort in taking 14th in 19:26.05. Flintridge Sacred Heart finished eighth with 232 points.

MEN’S SOCCER

Glendale Community College 3, Cypress College 1: Fabricio Bonilla registered two goals and Jonathon Tsarofski scored one on Tuesday to spark the visiting Vaqueros (4-2) in a nonconference match.

Andrew Zaimes finished with three saves for the Vaqueros.

WOMEN’S SOCCER

Antelope Valley College 5, Glendale Community College 0: Visiting Glendale suffered a nonconference defeat Tuesday.

The Vaqueros dipped to 0-3-2.

WOMEN’S CROSS-COUNTRY

Glendale Community College at Freso Invitational: In what perhaps could be considered a state preview race, the Vaqueros blew away the field at Saturday’s event at Woodward Park, home of the state final.

Glendale finished first with 28 points and was well ahead of runner-up Mt. San Antonio College (92).

Sophomores led the way for the Vaqueros, as Giselle Masedo placed second in 18 minutes, 43 seconds, which only trailed Cuesta College’s Miranda Daschian (18:40.3).

Former Glendale High standout Leana Setian finished third in 18:50.5, while Fiona Faulkner (sixth, 19:05.2), Glendale alumnus Fabiola Naranjo (eighth, 19:10.6) and Angelica Salas (ninth, 19:17.3) all placed in the top 10.

MEN’S CROSS-COUNTRY

Glendale Community College at Fresno Invitational: The improving Vaqueros took third place at Saturday’s event at Woodward Park.

Glendale finished with 64 points and trailed only Mt. San Antonio College (44) and Hartnell, which also finished with 64 points, but won the tie-breaker.

Former Burroughs standout Shane Thompson took second in a time of 21 minutes, 06.08 seconds, which was just on the heels of winner Edgar Bonilla (21:05.6) of Hartnell.

Alejandro Ambrossio (seventh, 21:18.2), Luis Celaya (11th, 21:38) and Raymond Lopez (14th, 21:49.9) also finished in the top 20 for Glendale.
