Share

A motorcyclist took police on a short chase early Monday morning after failing to stop at a red light.

Glendale police are saying 38-year-old Alvaro Martinez was riding with another cyclist around 12:45 a.m. Nov. 28 near Harvey Drive and Wilson Avenue when the Chatsworth resident failed to stop for a red light. Authorities said an officer attempted to pull him over but Martinez accelerated onto the 134 Freeway.

Police said Martinez traveled as fast as 90 mph and went on to make several unsafe lane changes on the freeway before exiting onto Figueroa Street and making a U-turn in front of an officer before continuing to avoid authorities. A police helicopter was brought in to track Martinez.
