Glendale police search for third suspect in violent home invasion robbery

Glendale police arrested two men and continued to search for a third Wednesday morning who fled on foot after allegedly robbing two residents inside their home at gunpoint.

Officials locked down a small neighborhood in West Glendale where the third suspect fled after the car he was in with the other two crashed during a short police pursuit.

Glendale police were called to the 700 block of Patterson Avenue at about 5:15 a.m. Wednesday after two male residents reported being robbed at gunpoint. One of the residents suffered a laceration on his head after being beaten, police said.

As officers arrived, they saw three men leaving the area in a vehicle and attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the men allegedly drove off instead.

The pursuit ended a short time later near the intersection of Concord Street and Wilson Avenue, where one of the men fled on foot. The other two were arrested at the scene.

Police believe the third man – described as being black, 6 feet tall and wearing a white shirt with dark pants – is hiding in the area in part because of 911 calls.

Police have locked down the area bounded by Concord Street, Wilson Avenue, Salem Street and San Fernando Road, and a SWAT team has been called in to search the area.

Police also reported recovering a gun at the scene of the crash.

No other information on the suspects was immediately available.
