Falling pine tree causes power outage in Glendale

Crews are working to restore power to more than 800 residents who live near Glorietta Avenue and Hermosita Drive after a pine tree took down a utility line, officials said.

[Updated 1:06 p.m: Crews were able to restore power to 884 customers as of 12:12 p.m., officials said.]

The pine tree fell sometime after 11 a.m. on the power line for a Glorietta Avenue feeder, prompting 814 residents to lose electricity, Glendale Water & Power officials said.

Residents affected by the outage live on North Ramona Avenue, South Moorside Drive, East Verdugo Road and West Rams Horn Court, officials said.

It was not immediately known whether the downed tree was related to high winds. A wind advisory issued by the National Weather Service is slated to expire at 4 p.m.
