Two Glendale Unified students won recognition for their artistic interpretation of the Golden Gate Bridge as part of Sen. Barbara Boxer’s (D-Calif.) California Landmarks Poster Contest.

Maddie Bohman, a sixth-grader at Verdugo Woodlands Elementary, won first place in the sixth to eighth grade category.

Varand Aghakhani, a junior at Clark Magnet High School, won a special mention for his poster in the ninth-grade and up category.

The two posters entered by Glendale’s students were among 1,183 entries from children across California, according to Boxer’s office.
