Burbank man charged with murder in stabbing death of woman

A 25-year-old Burbank man has been charged with murder in the stabbing death of his estranged girlfriend.

The Los Angeles County district attorney’s office on Thursday charged Stephen Joanou with the murder of Patrina Sabella, 32, whose body was discovered Tuesday morning at the baseball fields of South Weddington Park in Studio City.

Joanou, who was arrested later that day in Burbank, is scheduled to be arraigned April 12. He remains in custody in lieu of $1-million bail, according to the district attorney’s office.

If convicted, Joanou faces up to 26 years to life in state prison.
