16-month-old boy falls three stories in Glendale, breaks arm

A 16-month-old boy suffered a broken arm Tuesday morning after he slipped out of his father’s arm and fell more than 30 feet from a third-story window in Glendale, police said.

The boy was taken to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, where he was being treated for a fractured arm and a contusion, according to Glendale Police Sgt. York Tsuruta.

The boy’s father was reportedly holding him as they peered out from an open window in the 600 block of West Stocker Street.

But when the boy began squirming around and slapping the window screen, his upper body leaned forward, causing him to slip out of his father’s arm and through the window, according to Tsuruta.

Detectives were investigating the incident and plan to follow up at the hospital, but it appeared there was no evidence of a crime, police said.

Officers were also reporting the incident to the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services, according to Tsuruta.
