At least a dozen men fighting at Glendale park prior to shots being fired

Police say at least a dozen men were fighting at a parking lot moments before shots were fired at Fremont Park today.

The group of men — described as being in their late teens and early 20s — were involved in a brawl about 1:26 p.m. in the parking lot south of the park on the 600 block of Hahn Avenue, Glendale Police Sgt. Tom Lorenz said.

A short time later, several shots were fired, he said.

No injuries at the park have been reported, although police said anyone who fled the scene may have been hit.

Witnesses also reported seeing a man with a gun fleeing the area, police said.

The men spilt up in two groups as they ran in different directions before entering two vehicles, Lorenz said.

Police have set up a perimeter around the park to search for any suspects who may still be in the area. A Special Weapons and Tactics team has been called in to conduct a search of the park, Lorenz said.
