Metrolink trains systemwide may be delayed by water main issue

Metrolink officials are warning of possible systemwide delays after a complication with a water main near Union Station.

Metrolink spokesman Scott Johnson said that the agency was notified of a problem with a water main near the area where Riverside Drive crosses the Los Angeles River about 10:50 a.m. Wednesday and that Twitter messages were sent out as a preemptive strategy to warn passengers of the issue.

One of the Twitter messages encourages passengers “to take an earlier train in order to reach their final destination on time.”

Johnson said the potential delays stem from work that crews from the city’s Department of Water and Power probably need to do to fix the issues with the water main. He said he was not sure how long those delays might last.
