Lost in Glendale, man arrested after police discover meth, cash and pot in his car

A 30-year-old San Gabriel man was arrested this week after police discovered a half-pound of methamphetamine inside a cardboard box and more than $5,000 in cash inside his car, officials said.

Binh Ly, a reputed gang member on probation for narcotics, was taken into custody about 11:16 p.m. Monday at Broadway and Pacific Avenue, according to Glendale Police Department reports.

After police stopped him, Ly allegedly admitted to officers that he had a half-pound of methamphetamine and $5,320 inside his car, according to reports.

Police also reported finding several bags of marijuana inside the car’s trunk.

Ly allegedly told police he had picked up the drugs in East Los Angeles and was en route to deliver them in Anaheim when he got lost and ended up in Glendale.

They also discovered hotel key cards, phones, empty plastic baggies and a fake California driver’s license, which had Ly’s photograph and personal information on it, according to reports.

His vehicle was impounded into evidence, police said.

Ly has convictions for vehicle theft, driving without a license and on a suspended or revoked license, possessing methamphetamine and multiple convictions for possessing methamphetamine for sale, according to Los Angeles County Superior Court records.
