Thurston gearing up for Epic Challenge next month

For the third year, Thurston Middle School students will compete for prizes, glory and money for their school during Epic Challenge: 2013, a series of "Amazing Race"-style games.

Students will be combined into random teams during their scheduled physical education classes Feb. 25 through March 1.

Family members and friends can sponsor the students, with 100% of proceeds going to the school. The event raised $32,000 last year, said Yvette Beebe, event co-chair with Kristi Matheson.

Epic Challenge is the one student-led fundraiser of the year. Parents can volunteer to help during the competition. Visit for more information.
