Woman accused of stabbing two men outside homeless winter shelter

A 31-year-old woman is expected to appear in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Friday after she allegedly attacked two men with a knife outside Glendale’s regional homeless winter shelter, police said.

Christine Hunt was arrested about 5:16 p.m. Wednesday at her motel room at the Glen Capri Inn in the 300 block of East Colorado Street on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, according to the police reports.

One of victims approached officers who were patrolling the neighborhood near the shelter on East Colorado Street to report the alleged stabbing, police said.

The victim reportedly saw Hunt brandish a knife and approach a woman outside the shelter, so he quickly grabbed Hunt in an attempt to take away the knife. But she allegedly switched the knife to her other hand and stabbed him, police said.

The knife pierced through the 45-year-old man’s clothing but did not injure him, Glendale Police Sgt. Tom Lorenz said.

A group of transients had initially tried to hold her down, but she was eventually able to flee, according to police.

At about 6 a.m. the same day, Hunt also allegedly attacked an 18-year-old man at the shelter with a knife, Lorenz said.

Police were eventually able to track Hunt down and arrest her.

She reportedly denied possessing the knife, but later told officers about a cut on her finger that she suffered when the knife was taken away from her, according to police reports.

Natalie Profant Komuro, executive director of Ascencia, which operates the shelter, said employees would be taking a “closer look” at people standing in line to enter the National Guard Armory.

“Anyone who commits an act of violence would be banned from the line,” she said.

Hunt has a lengthy criminal record with multiple convictions for battery, including one for the same offense on Jan. 7, according to Los Angeles County Superior Court records.

She has also been convicted of forgery, driving under the influence, vandalism and disobeying court orders.

Hunt was twice arrested in August while she was in custody inside the Glendale jail, police said — once on an outstanding warrant for driving under the influence of drugs and crashing and another time for punching another inmate in the face, police said.
