Healthy Kids executive Sharon Townsend Roth honored

Sharon Townsend Roth, executive director of Glendale Healthy Kids, is the 2013 recipient of the California School Nurses Organization Lyda Smiley Award. This award honors an outstanding person and organization, other than a school nurse, who has made a significant contribution to the well-being of children and the practice of school nursing.

The organization noted that Roth has been positive and efficient as she set up lines of support between the organization, the school districts and a variety of community health agencies. The support of the 30-plus schools through physician visits, health fairs, counseling and health education received through Glendale Healthy Kids has allowed numerous children and families increased access to vision care, dental care and better management of chronic diseases.
