Glendale man accused of firing shot inside home

A 43-year-old man turned himself in to police Wednesday night after he fired a gun inside his East Glendale home during a domestic dispute, officials said.

Before walking into the Glendale Police Department headquarters on Isabel Street, Garen Oganisyan contacted his attorney about turning himself over to detectives, Police Sgt. Tom Lorenz said. No one was hurt during the shooting.

He was taken into custody about 6:15 p.m. on suspicion of shooting inside an occupied dwelling, false imprisonment and making threats, according to police records. Officers recovered Oganisyan’s gun inside his vehicle, Lorenz said.

Police were searching for him earlier that day after he allegedly fired one round inside his home on 3100 block of Chadney Drive.

Oganisyan had gotten into an argument with his wife about her parents, who were present during the incident, Lorenz said.

He didn’t direct the shot at anyone, Lorenz said.

Oganisyan fled before police arrived at the home.

Police detectives obtained a judge-issued emergency protective order against Oganisyan to keep him away from his wife and her parents, Lorenz said.

He left custody early Thursday after posting $250,000 bail. Oganisyan is expected to be arraigned in June.
