Three arrested for car burglary

Police arrested three people Saturday morning for allegedly stealing an iPad 2 and other pricey items from a parked car.

Nicole Villegas, 26, Bryan Ochoa 18, and Pedro Orozco, 18, of Altadena were charged with burglary and taken to Glendale City Jail, said Sgt. Daniel Suttles, of the Glendale Police Dept.

The incident that led to the arrests unfolded at around 4:15 a.m., when a neighbor spotted two men breaking into a two-door Scion parked on the 3600 block of Figueroa Street in Glendale.

After officers arrived at the scene, they spotted Villegas filling the power-steering-fluid reservoir of a white Lexus. The officer asked if she had seen anything out of the ordinary, Suttles said. Villegas said she had not and that she had just arrived at her house. About 20 minutes later, the officer saw Villegas drive past him. He ran her license plate number and discovered the car was registered in Pasadena.

“Then he made the decision that he was going to pull her over,” Suttles said.

Orozco and Ochoa were hiding in the car, one reclining in the passenger seat and the other crouching in the back. As police questioned the trio, they noticed an iPad in a case embroidered with the victim’s name, a Sony Cybershot digital camera, laser rangefinder binoculars, the victim’s Auto Club card, latex gloves, a window punch and other items.

“Sometimes things just fall into place,” Suttles said.
