Pair accused of stabbing, dumping man

Two Glendale men were arrested Thursday on suspicion of attempted murder after witnesses saw one of them dump a bloodied man from their car after an apparent robbery, police said.

Officers stopped the men — described as 44 and 61 years old — just after 10 p.m. on the 1100 block of Orange Grove Avenue, about a block away from where the victim was dumped, Glendale Police Sgt. Tom Lorenz said.

Police declined to release the names of the suspects because detectives were still trying to determine how each one played a role in the incident.

Witnesses told police the men “dumped the [man] out the vehicle, leaving him for dead,” Lorenz said.

Bystanders immediately came to the aid of the 51-year-old Los Angeles man as he lay bloodied on the 1100 block of East Harvard Street suffering from multiple deep stab wounds to his arms, legs and hands, Lorenz added.

The man, whose name wasn’t released, was taken to Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center to be treated for his wounds, which Lorenz described as “slashings.”

It was unclear how the victim knew the men, but he got a ride from them earlier that evening, Lorenz said.

Details about what happened next were fuzzy, but police said the men tried to rob the victim and then stabbed him while he was seated in back seat of their four-door Ford Focus.

Witnesses told police they saw the driver get out of the Ford, walk toward the rear passenger door, pull out the victim and dump him on the ground before taking off, Lorenz said.

Moments later, officers stopped the men and found a bloodied knife and prescription pills on the floor near the passenger-side door, Lorenz said.

“There was blood in the vehicle — splattered in blood,” he added.
