Editor’s Note: Upcoming changes

Share

Beginning next month, the Glendale News-Press, Burbank Leader, La Cañada Valley Sun and Pasadena Sun will be undergoing some changes. Here’s a preview of what to expect.

To start, we will be launching a News-Press app for iPhone, iPad and Android users on Nov. 1. This is part of our ongoing evolution to ensure our readers can get their news in a variety of ways — be it print or online, through Facebook posts and tweets, or on their mobile devices. Apps for our other publications are also being looked into.

Secondly, our websites will be moving to a Facebook-powered commenting system, making it easier for readers to respond to stories. In addition, this system better safeguards the relevance and quality of the comments.

As our readers migrate to the digital world, we are also poised to begin posting more brief, informative stories at key times when our readership is at its highest, putting additional emphasis on our
breaking news blogs The818Now.com and The626Now.com.

In tandem with these initiatives, we are making changes to the frequency and distribution of our print editions.

In particular, we will no longer have a Sunday edition of the La Cañada Valley Sun or a Tuesday edition of the News-Press. Their last publishing dates will be Nov. 4 and 6, respectively. Additionally, the Sunday News-Press & Leader will be delivered solely in Glendale after Nov. 11, and the Burbank Leader will return to a Wednesday and Saturday schedule.

Whether you like turning the pages, browsing online or tapping the latest headlines on an app, we hope that we remain your indispensable source of breaking news, sports, entertainment, community events and opinion.

Thank you for your support, and thank you for reading.
