In a bipartisan decision Thursday, U.S. Congress took a step to change how orcas are kept in captivity, a debate propelled by the 2013 documentary “Blackfish,” which tells the story of Tilikum, a 12,000-pound killer-whale who killed Sea World trainer Dawn Brancheau in 2010.
Self-defense classes for women sponsored by the City of Glendale have resumed after the National Coalition for Men contested the gender-exclusive classes. After being advised by legal staff, the City Council agreed to bring back the two women’s classes as well as schedule one for men and boys.
A Glendale man was arrested on suspicion of felony vandalism on Wednesday after he allegedly threw a bicycle through a gas-station window and shattered it, police said.
