-- Five people, including a 5-year-old girl with critical injuries, were transported to area hospitals after they were struck by a car at a bus stop at San Fernando Road and Sonora Avenue at around 5:05 p.m. on Friday, according to Glendale police.

-- Gary Owens, the radio, TV and voice-over performer who appeared on the “Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In” TV series and created the phrase “beautiful downtown Burbank,” died Thursday surrounded by family in his home in Encino.

-- As Burbank’s election primary approaches, school board candidates continue to push for votes and campaign cash.
